Adults Only Fun in the Sun in the Dominican Republic

As I was heading to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, a young couple sitting next to me on the plane said they were meeting five other couples there for an adults-only getaway. Although they all have kids and enjoy their vacations as a family, this time they were going on a trip for adult fun.

The Palladium Hotel Group has the perfect solution for those looking to have fun in the sun. Two of its incredible resorts are located in scenic Punta Cana and captivating Cap Cana. Each adults-only property has its own unique perks, so it’s up to the traveler to decide what best suits their individual tastes.

TRS Turquesa Hotel Punta Cana

Punta Cana is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the Caribbean islands. Located in the east of the Dominican Republic, this tropical destination attracts vacationers from all over the world. With 30 miles of idyllic pearly white beaches, clear tourmaline waters and a variety of all-inclusive resorts, Punta Cana is a hugely popular vacation spot.

The TRS Turquesa is an upscale property located on scenic, mile-long Bávaro Beach. The adults-only beachfront hotel is nestled in lush, soft tropical surroundings surrounded by swaying palms and lots of vegetation. The hotel has 372 spacious rooms and suites with garden, pool or ocean views.

My junior suite overlooking the pool and the ocean had a king-size bed, a double sofa bed, a sitting area and a fully equipped marble bathroom with a shower and a hydromassage bath. I loved my balcony, perfect to greet the day with my morning coffee. Upon check-in, guests are greeted by a friendly butler who escorts them to their room, shows them the accommodations features, and then sets them up on the hotel app for direct access to their butler assigned.

Optional suite accommodation choices here include a pool, poolside romance, or beachfront deck.

Gorgeous pools and spa

Turquesa has three expansive swimming pools and a swim-up bar as well as a private VIP section on Bávaro Beach. I loved the thatched roofs and the incredibly scenic “secret” pool which is more secluded as most sun worshipers frequent the main pool closer to the ocean. With its stylish wooden lounge chairs, four-poster beds, Balinese hammocks and fabulous sea views, the main pool is utterly delightful.

As Turquesa is located near two other TRS hotels on site, guests are welcome to use the facilities at the Grand Palladium Resort & Spa and Grand Palladium Suites & Casino. These resorts are not adults-only properties, however.

For those who enjoy active sports, the resort offers yoga, volleyball, and archery. Water sports enthusiasts love the windsurfing, snorkeling and diving opportunities.

If you like unique spa experiences like me, the Zentropia Palladium Spa & Wellness Center is an experience not to be missed. The spa offers a variety of beauty, face and body treatments. The impressive spa adventure includes a sauna, steam bath, hot and cold pools, Turkish bath, mud treatments and a relaxing pool with bubbling spa seats and other water features. With these deals, it’s hard to tear yourself away from this exotic paradise.

All-inclusive dining experience

There is no shortage of fabulous food at this resort which offers a variety of a la carte restaurants in Turquesa in addition to those at nearby Palladium properties.

Helios is a casual beachfront restaurant open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can choose from a wonderful Mediterranean-inspired menu or enjoy a delicious buffet meal. Kusko’s cuisine showcases the best of both Japanese and Peruvian cultures, and its tantalizing fusion of tastes and textures makes it a perfect choice for sharing small plates with a group or heading straight for main courses. It is really impressive.

Sumptuori guests can enjoy a la carte specialties cooked in the teppanyaki style. Other restaurants serve dishes inspired by French brasseries, Italian bistros, Asian cafes, and more. And let’s not forget the lively tasting and mixology classes, or the intriguing libations created by the talented bartenders at the Hemingway Bar.

A must-see dinner show is the Chic Cabaret & Restaurant which serves a multi-course dinner with one of the most entertaining cabaret shows I have ever attended. The dancers and costumes were impressive, and the Caribbean vibe was thriving on the stage here.

If you’re into a larger property right on the beach with an amazing spa, lively atmosphere, and plenty of dining options, TRS Turquesa is the perfect all-inclusive pick in Punta Cana.

TRS Cap Cana Boutique Hotel

A private retreat in the Punta Cana area, Cap Cana is renowned for its luxurious resorts, pristine beaches and state-of-the-art marina. What we love most about this oasis is its quieter, more laid-back sanctuary vibe.

TRS Cap Cana is a luxury hotel located in the most exclusive part of Punta Cana, just 10 minutes from the international airport. The hotel is surrounded by lush tropical forest bordering a pristine beach. The open-air lobby is absolutely stunning. The soaring, beautifully constructed ceiling allowed our eyes to be immediately drawn to the palm trees outside and the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. Rope swings in the lobby are a nice, relaxing touch.

Guests at this all-inclusive beachfront resort can choose from marina-view, pool-view, or ocean-view junior suites with balconies. Pool Rooms are also available with the same views with additional patios. For those who choose a Jacuzzi Terrace Suite, these ocean view rooms offer just that, a private Jacuzzi.

I loved the pool suite

My junior suite facing the pool couldn’t have been a more ideal choice for the privacy coupled with the ability to swim in the morning, afternoon or after sunset.

The beautifully appointed bedroom included a king-size bed, a separate living room with a sofa bed, a small dining area, a nice bathroom with shower and a terrace with lounges. And for my greatest pleasure – a hammock. Perfect for the afternoon siesta.

Hotel Amenities and Juanillo Beach

All stays at TRS Cap Cana include an exclusive relaxation package and access to massages at the spa and wellness center. The complex has two exclusive swimming pools and direct access to a nearby paradise beach thanks to the hotel shuttle.

And let’s talk about this wonderful beach, Playa Juanillo. It has been rated one of the best beaches in the Dominican Republic and for good reason. The postcard-perfect stretch of pristine, powdery sand is lined with towering palm trees and the calm waters are a mix of vibrant hues of azure, turquoise and teal.

Guests have access to lounge chairs and loungers, mini cabanas and my personal favourite, a beach swing which is utterly irresistible and guaranteed to bring out the kid in all of us! Playa Juanillo is ideal for sunbathing, swimming, dining and when the wind picks up, yes, windsurfing.

The hotel is a short distance from the famous Punta Espada Golf Club designed by Golf Hall of Famer Jack Nicklaus. Nearby Los Establos stables offer horse riding and Scape Park is a renowned eco-theme park.

Wonderful resort restaurant

There are several a la carte restaurants on-site at the resort. Helios, inspired by Ibiza’s beach clubs, offers stunning ocean views. Izakaya is like taking a trip through wonderful Japanese street food, and Tentazione is an elegant restaurant serving Italian dishes. El Gaucho is a must for meat lovers as this Argentinian restaurant serves melt-in-the-mouth starters accompanied by tempting sauces and sides.

We also love the lobby coffee bar which offers tea sandwiches and tempting dessert tastings. Sports fans will love watching the action on the Xtra Time bar’s large flat-screen TVs.

Village Services

A wide variety of sports activities are available on the beach or at the pool. The resort also offers daily shows and recreation specialists who can help guests arrange local excursions to explore the hidden gems of this scenic paradise.

Our group of ladies loved the hat painting activity led by a professional artist. Even those who believe they have no artistic talent will magically walk away with beautifully painted works to take home as a souvenir of their stay in the Dominican Republic.

For those looking for a quieter, more secluded boutique experience, TRS Cap Cana is the perfect place for a wonderful adults-only vacation to relax and rejuvenate.

In the end, sometimes we need those adult trips that provide uninterrupted social time, as well as the fun and relaxation that add balance to our otherwise hectic lives.
