Of unknown origin, this exotic grape finds its place at The Vice Napa Valley Wines

Napa Valley, California – October 6, 2021 – Saint-Laurent, a very aromatic, dark-skinned grape with origins shrouded in mystery, is the most widely planted grape in the Czech Republic and the third most popular grape in Austria. While this obscure grape attracts the attention of growers in other areas, it is rarely planted in California and Napa Valley, St. Laurent barely manages a footnote in grape plantations.

Discover the 2019 limited edition of The Vice Wine St. Laurent, “Majorelle”, a mysterious wine and a unique expression of Napa Valley, born from the “almost perfect” 2019 harvest of appellations.

2019 Saint-Laurent, “Majorelle” – Napa Valley ($ 34.00 / 750 ml)

“St Laurent, a rare and very aromatic black grape variety thought to be a descendant of Pinot Noir and Parent X. We consider it a ‘Le Smoking’ version of Pinot Noir, with opulent aromas on the nose and haute couture silk on the palate. Tasty, intense and dancing between delicate and wild. – Malek Amrani, the vice-founder / winemaker

After a long, hot summer ended with a little rain and cool weather, the natural elements allowed Amrani to create a wine that is very drinkable now and which will age for a decade and only get better over time.

Picked in early September and fermented at 7 a.m. that day, the natural yeast fermentation continued for two weeks before the wine was transferred to neutral oak barrels to continue to refine the natural vibrant fruit flavors. . After twenty months in cask, the natural aromas of violet, anise, baking spices and a mixture of berries on the nose give way to blackberry and chocolate which lead the palate, with notes of leather and cinnamon. towards the velvety finish.

The wine is made from 100% Saint-Laurent grapes, 100% unfiltered and unglued, aged for 20 months in neutral French oak barrels. The ABV is 13.8%. 50 cases were produced.

All of The Vice’s wines are low in sulphites, made with sustainable farming and winemaking practices, and are certified vegan.
