Circle Theater, West Michigan’s premier destination for exceptional theatrical arts in an intimate setting, continues its 69th season with Cabaret. This twelve-time Tony Award-winning production will take place inside the Performing Arts Center, located on the Aquinas College campus, July 15-31.

Cabaret is directed by Will Gearring, starring Jaelyn Raiford, Kobe Brown, Brooke Bruce, and more, with musical direction by Vanessa Allen and Deb Perry, and choreography by Torrey Thomas. This production is a breathtaking masterpiece of musical theater, set in 1931 in Berlin as the Nazis rise to power, focuses on the seedy Kit Kat Klub nightlife and revolves around American writer Cliff Bradshaw and her relationship with cabaret artist Sally Bowles. Supervising the action, the Master of Ceremonies greets the audience and assures them that they will forget all their troubles at the Cabaret.

Under the direction of Will Gearring, Cabaret was intentionally chosen to rethink popular production and tell the story of Cabaret and the history of 1930s Germany through minority voices – the voices of those whose stories don’t. have not yet been told. Through his research, Gearring weaves the story of minority voices during the Nazi takeover of Germany in the 1930s and 1940s throughout the show. Audiences can expect an immersive and eye-opening experience with each performance.

“Cabaret is a must-have classic in music. Our cast brings a few little pieces that really tell the story in a new way. And exciting work. Everyone who joins us in telling this story will see a story of dramatic love interspersed with comedic characters, catchy dance numbers and social commentary. “- Jaelyn Raiford (Sally Bowles)

The Circle Theater is excited to welcome back patrons inside the Performing Arts Center as we continue our 2021 production season indoors. Join us for our long awaited production of Cabaret. The cabaret will start at 7:30 p.m., July 15 to 3, with a morning show on Sunday July 25 at 3 p.m. Tickets are available on cercletheatre.org.

The local theater was hit hard last year with multiple postponements and cancellations due to COVID-19. These intermissions have given the Circle Theater a renewed commitment to keeping the theater alive through safe and entertaining community events. These events are just one of the many ways you can help support the Circle Theater.
