One of the Northwest’s most historic nightclubs has been transformed with an investment of £ 600,000 – after being nearly lost and converted into apartments.

The Fox & Goose pub in Southport town center has been visited by generations of party-loving people since it opened in the 1850s.

Successful local businessman Hasan Akdeniz has now spearheaded his conversion into an exciting new place that can be enjoyed day or night, with many different rooms to explore, both inside and out. outside.

These images show how the ground floor has been transformed into a stunning new nightclub with the city’s most colorful neon dance floor, while live music returns. A bar runs along the left side of the wall and VIP rooms can be hired.

The popular Saturday night rock parties are back in the venue on Cable Street just off Lord Street in the heart of downtown.

Fox & Goose has always been famous for its live music, and local bands have returned in recent weeks.

Eager to embrace the entire Southport community, the Fox & Goose started hosting brand new Romanian Nights and Russian Nights, which have proven to be very popular.

Hasan has created an attractive new outdoor beer garden where visitors can relax and enjoy the city’s very first shisha bar.

People of all ages will love the redesigned first floor, which Hasan has converted into a whole new game room.

Here people can find a new pool table, a dart board, and soon will be able to play on a ping pong table.

Local company Classic Arcade Games has provided several nostalgic arcade games for people to enjoy. Others should follow.

The Fox & Goose has created an atmosphere and facilities available to people of all ages at all times of the day and night.

Hasan said: “We opened Fox & Goose on July 2nd, following an investment of around £ 600,000.

“I applied for a license to bring back the Fox & Goose. The building permit had been given to the previous owner to transform the building into eight apartments when I bought it.

“I’m aware of the huge affection people have for the Fox & Goose, so I was determined to reopen it, but give it a really good new look at the same time.

“Everyone in Southport has fond memories of being here.

“You can’t imagine the number of emails and messages I received from people when they heard that I was reopening Fox & Goose. They were delighted to hear that we were back.

“I have received a lot of messages from people who have met their husbands or wives here, who celebrated their 18th birthday here, people who have had a great evening over the years.

“I would like to add a big thank you to my business partner, Dr Emrah Aslan, for all his help and support in this project, as well as to Mr Adem Akdeniz.

In addition, a very big thank you to all the local residents of Southport who have supported me throughout. “

Hasan knows Southport very well, having run a number of successful businesses nearby.

He believes in the future of the city and has other investment projects.

He said: “I have been doing business in Southport for 14 years.

“There is nothing here that looks like what we have here at Fox & Goose.

“Our new playroom is truly unique. People between the ages of 21 and 35 don’t have a great choice of places to go during the day to relax and have fun.

“Here they can come and play billiards, darts, enjoy our classic arcade games or play table tennis. They no longer have to go out of town to find something similar.

“There are also a few other games on the way here soon.

“At the back, on the ground floor, we have our new beer garden and our shisha garden. It’s one of a kind, the only one like this in Southport.

“In Southport, there’s nowhere to go for shisha. The people I talk to go to Manchester or Liverpool and they have to drive an hour each way and then one person has to drive so can’t drink.

“Everyone will be welcome here and then you can take a cab for a few pounds because you are already in Southport.

“Our outdoor space is open every day, until 10 pm, out of respect for our neighbors.

Before its closure in 2018, the Fox & Goose was well known for its live music, hosting bands such as Space and hosting the popular Battle of the Bands competition.

The pub first opened in the 1850s and enjoyed trading for many years until it was transformed into a “fun pub” called The Pavilion in 1984. The fun included regular pie fights. cream!

Kerry and Angela visit the Fox & Goose pub in Southport in December 1994

But the “fun” was short lived, and in 1987 a “pub with a new image and a very different sense of style” arrived, namely The Steamboat.

Fortunately, under new management, “The Fox” made a full recovery and after just seven years the pub reverted to its original name in early 1991.

Known for showcasing local musical talent, the bar was one of the few in the city that championed rock music and regularly presented concerts.

But it closed its doors three years ago, and plans were quickly filed to convert the building into an apartment building, marking the end of one of the city’s most iconic places.

After one request was rejected, a second was approved and disappointed local residents feared the place was gone forever.

But it was successfully rescued and underwent a substantial renovation by Hasan Akdeniz.

People are now encouraged to come and take a look at what the new place has to offer.

Hasan, originally from Turkey, has previously operated unlicensed stores, shops and kebab shops in the city, including the Southport Food Center on Nevill Street.

It was thanks to the store that he first experienced the popularity of the place and the many tributes and comments online after it closed convinced him to take over the place.

He said, “I used to run SFC take-out when the Fox and Goose was open. When it closed I read the reviews online and the folks in Southport were so upset – a couple met 50 years ago in the Fox and Goose.

Patrons enjoy a night out at the Fox & Goose pub in Southport

“I read over 300 reviews, everyone was so sad and had fond memories of Fox and Goose.

“When I sat down people were looking for a businessman to invest and reopen, I said ‘why not?’ I was looking for a second company at the time.

“I hope people enjoy seeing the Fox & Goose open again and come and enjoy what we have to offer.”

If you’ve got the kind of kids who want to get their hands on EVERYTHING, then we might just have found the perfect play center.

At the west end of the M62 is Imagine That !, a children’s science and discovery center where little ones can live out their wildest dreams.

This can be disguised as a pizza chef, construction workers, pop stars or veterans, looking for dinosaurs, or watching snow form in front of their eyes, then putting their hands in vats of mud.

READ MORE : Spookfest has arrived at the Trafford Center

Families can book at this extraordinary activity center for three-hour time slots on weekends and during mid-term vacations, with each session being given a certain time in each “zone”.

I traveled to the center, about 40 minutes from Manchester, with my George, six, and Freddie, 22 months, and the center had a lot going on to keep the two kids ridiculously happy and engaged during that time.

Journalist Dianne’s children George and Freddie play vets at Imagine That!

We started our journey in the Imagination Village – a large space with different “rooms” dedicated to different workspaces, such as a supermarket, pizzeria, TV studio, theater and construction site.

It gave kids the space and time to play being a bus driver, construction worker, pizza maker, TV presenter, pop star, or vet – with the demand that a family use every “pod” on their own. a moment that was respected during our visit.

George enjoyed playing the role of a vet with his stethoscope tending to an “injured” cat and checking his x-rays – while Fred happily tossed around a collection of other stuffed animals causing many new imaginary illnesses, I’m sure.

Next, it’s in the Artbeatz area where kids have the chance to “get dirty” by splashing paint on a huge car, before honing their artistic skills to create their own masterpiece of mini magnets.

Activities at Imagine That!

There is the chance to come to life inside a huge photograph, as well as become a giant pine art sculpture.

There is also a cafe and dining area in zones one and two, so we made a stop here to feed and water the children – which left us little time to explore the play area. exterior.

It’s dinosaur-themed currently that my oldest son loved – and he got to do a bit of fossil research on an activity table, before the two kids came to life on a dino jeep.

The scientific area

Then we went to the third area of the tour – the science area – where kids can explore the magic of mirrors, magnets, water and snow.

Budding scientist George loved the area, which allowed for lots of discussion, while little Fred was excited to get to work on the 5-meter interactive ball wall.

As a parent, it was exciting to watch the tiny little cogs in their minds determine what was happening through the various exhibits.

This area also featured a much anticipated room – the “snow” area – where a scientist from the center helps all the youngsters create a mixture of absorbent materials to form their own pot of “snow” – followed by a full blast that made a magical moment for both of us.

George loved the “snow” room

There’s also a sizable splash area where kids can experiment with buckets of water and pumps if you don’t mind everyone getting a little wet.

The final destination of the tour is the Slime Factory, which George was looking forward to the most.

Kids can try their hand at making their own slime and bath bomb, while the on-site scientist gives a rather splendid giant bubble demonstration that the younger ones loved.

The center was recently able to reopen its slime rooms for the first time since lockdown restrictions were relaxed – and all children are urged to sanitize their hands before entering and leaving here.

Kids love slime rooms

With different tubs of gooey and spongy sludge, George had a great time here. Freddie was a little hesitant at first, but soon realized he loved trying to pick the little toys out of some of the gooey looking green sludge.

I was really impressed with how the whole day was organized, and from the moment you walked in everyone was asked to wash their hands and the adults asked to get a mask back if they hadn’t brought one to use in closed areas.

The time slots allowed you to have enough time to explore each area without being overwhelmed by too many other children / families.

There was so much to do with my 22 month old and six year old that I would have no hesitation in booking to go back.

Rockwell Group has created remarkable sports projects that combine shared social spaces with immersive storytelling, such as the MetLife Stadium club and suite series in New Jersey, the new training center for the Dolphins which opened in the summer of 2021 and the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame. Now, that of Seattle Climate Pledge Arena builds on these efforts and is an unprecedented 750,000 square foot arena designed with the future of live events in mind.

“Within Climate Pledge Arena, we have created unique hospitality spaces that will produce unprecedented entertainment experiences. We were inspired by the history of the building as the site of the 1962 World‘s Fair, which was a catalyst for so many innovations in the city, ”said David rockwell, Founder and President, Rockwell Group. “We’re excited to continue this legacy of innovation in the arena, with cutting-edge technology and unique interactions for audiences to fully participate and immerse themselves in.”

“I have always had a fascination with this building as a native of Seattle,” noted Shawn sullivan, partner, Rockwell Group. “We are honored to have the opportunity to restore and redesign it with new ways for people to come together and create collective memories. It is exciting to help reinvent the arena for future generations. future.”

“Rockwell Group has created an unprecedented experience for fans, where they can be a part of the drama and thrill of the action in the arena,” said Tim leiweke, CEO of Oak View Group. “From the private suites to the dining room at the Mount Baker Club, we invite our guests to a beautiful, world-class arena with daylit spaces inspired by the city around us. “

CLUB TUNNELS SUITES
The residential-style Tunnel Club Suites have been designed to provide a personal and theatrical connection with the play and preparation rituals for going out on the field or on the ice. From each suite, guests can watch players walk through a tunnel from the locker rooms. Seen through a one-way mirror, the passageways are equipped with LED screens. Suite holders have direct tunnel access to their dedicated seat inside the arena.

PITCHBOOK SUITES
Cantilevered above the toilet, the private suites can accommodate 16 people each. Inspired by a Seattle Loft, the suites have a wet bar and kitchen area defined by a porcelain stone backsplash and sloping wooden ceiling sloping towards a view of the arena.

Additionally, located at the southwest and southeast corners of the arena’s PitchBook Suite level, two 35-foot-long interactive rocking disc walls use custom software and depth-sensing cameras to respond. the gestures and movements of the guests. It also features other real-time visuals that respond to the action in the arena, all on an innovative and highly durable display. Conceptualized by LAB at Rockwell Group– The experience of the Rockwell Group design and technology studio and the team that created Illuminarium, a one-of-a-kind immersive entertainment venue open to cities across the country – these interactive walls were created in partnership with PitchBook, SportFive, Climate Pledge Arena and Senovva.

THE IMPERIAL SALON MOËT ET CHANDON
Five intimate-scale rooms frame views of the bowl through largely vaulted openings. The upscale finishes of the private restaurant are inspired by upscale interpretations of the traditional repertoire of outdoor enthusiasts: a checkered marble mosaic floor, charred wood walls reminiscent of a campfire, and lighting inspired by the outdoors. lanterns. On the bar side, design touches include leather benches and velvet curtains. The side dining rooms are complemented by dramatic lighting, oak walls and stone floors.

VERIZON LOUNGE
The Verizon Lounge is an invitation-only lounge and nightclub, a “secret” party space under the arena where owners and players can entertain guests, inspired by an upscale version of that of Seattle historic underground passages. Plush niches wrap guests in emerald velvet draperies and feature a series of barrel-vaulted lounge spaces that orient towards a central bar. The sophisticated palette includes a vaulted ceiling, smoked mirrors, and brass screens that offset the dark wall panels.

THE SYMETRA CLUB AND THE WAFd BANK CLUB (Bar and Craft Brewery)
With capacity for 1,300 to 1,700 guests, Symetra and WaDf Bank clubs feature a bar flanked by communal gathering areas, specialty counters and a craft brewery. Drawing from industrial spaces found in Seattle, like Gas Works Park, the club features corrugated steel, white sided oak, reclaimed brick, woven steel mesh, and paneled concrete. A central illuminated backlit double-height bar dominates the space, adding a voyeuristic element where guests can ‘see and be seen’ from multiple levels and vantage points. The lobby of the suite above is designed to resemble a walkway or suspension bridge, while the craft beer area, inspired by that of Seattle Pike’s Place Market features bright, scalloped lights and bold signage.

SPACE NEEDLE LOUNGE (Cocktail bar and Event space)
Located on the top floor, the living room offers views of the iconic Space Needle through an oversized skylight. The intimate club doubles as an event space, and features cascading curtains of blue ombre velvet offset by brass finishes and exposed concrete.

CLUB MOUNT BAKER (dining room):
Mount Baker Club is a modern dining hall designed to showcase that of Seattle robust culinary offerings. Bold signage, painted concrete floors, and custom murals by local artists add an industrial touch. Five food stalls, including a vintage Airstream trailer, offer wine and whiskey bars, pizzas, sandwiches and desserts. Slatted windows bring in daylight and views into the club from the outside plaza.

Climate Pledge Arena is scheduled to open to the public on 22 October 2021.

God bless Jim Koplik. The man is tasked with bringing in just about any star artist you’ve ever wanted to see live here in Connecticut over the past 50 years. I just found out he’s working to bring some huge music festivals to Connecticut next year. One that has taken place in New York for the past 10 years, and another to fill the void left by the Gathering of the Vibes when it collapsed in 2015.

I recently had the pleasure of going behind the scenes at the beautiful new Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater in Bridgeport. Mr. Koplik and amphitheater owner Howard Saffan gave a tour of our group and told members of the local media about the hard work it took to bring their vision to life.

Well, according to ctpost.com, Koplik and Saffan are working hard again, this time with the organizers of the Governors Ball in New York, and another large-scale music festival, at Seaside Park in Bridgeport in September 2022.

You’ve probably heard of the Governors Ball before. The event has just celebrated its 10th anniversary. It took place on Randall’s Island until last year when it was transferred to Citi Field. It features some of the biggest names in the music industry: Billie Eilish, Eminem, Jack White, Kanye West, Megan Thee Stallion, Stevie Nicks, Guns N Roses and Post Malone, to name a few. Next year, Governors Ball organizers could host another large-scale event in Bridgeport.

Koplik and Saffan would work to move the event to Connecticut next September. Besides, according to ctpost.com, Koplik and Saffon are also keen to have an additional large-scale music festival at Seaside Park in the same month, not as a replacement for the Gathering of the Vibes, but in a way. The new Seaside Park Festival would take place on September 17-18, 2022, while the other major music festival would take place the following weekend, September 24-25, 2021.

I loved going to the Gathering of the Vibes. It was a unique event in a beautiful location. The Vibes died out in 2015 after a financial dispute between the town of Bridgeport and festival organizers. This is one aspect that Bridgeport officials will not have to worry about with Koplik and Saffan, they have proven to be supremely organized by building the new multi-million dollar Bridgeport amphitheater during the pandemic. Hope they get it, what a score for Connecticut music fans.

Medical entrepreneurship: an untapped gold mine – By: Fatima DAMAGUM https://nkfan.net/medical-entrepreneurship-an-untapped-gold-mine-by-fatima-damagum/ https://nkfan.net/medical-entrepreneurship-an-untapped-gold-mine-by-fatima-damagum/#respond Sat, 16 Oct 2021 03:23:33 +0000 https://nkfan.net/medical-entrepreneurship-an-untapped-gold-mine-by-fatima-damagum/ SSome time ago the child of the 14th Emir of Kano (I heard that a certain word is now forbidden), was admitted to a tertiary hospital. SSome time ago the child of the 14th Emir of Kano (I heard that a certain word is now forbidden), was admitted to a tertiary hospital. During a visit to his child, he lamented the poor infrastructure, fading paint, cheap tiles and stained bathroom fixtures. He wondered how such a powerful teaching hospital could lack a room fit for a king’s child.

Quite simply, our pleasure rooms or our VIP rooms were not up to its standard. And while many might dismiss this as a capitalist or materialist mindset; I saw an opportunity for the hospital to generate income.

Welcome to medical entrepreneurship. These days the word “entrepreneurship” has been used so many times that it has become synonymous with “hustle and bustle” and immediately conjures up images of people selling random things online desperately trying to get you to buy. However, as entrepreneurship is all about making money, the fundamental ideology is to identify a gap and provide a solution. And there are many shortcomings in the Nigerian health system.

Imagine if the hospital built a luxury suite for the upper class to use during hospital admissions and charged an exorbitant amount for it, would it be used? The answer is crucial YES! The Dantata and Dangotes would absolutely go to the hospital just for these amenities. A tertiary hospital with all the best minds and a suite worthy of their status; they would rush. In the absence of this, specialists are sometimes forced to admit royalty and the super rich into their luxury homes, which is grossly unprofessional.

A patient once told me that she attended an exclusive hospital in Abuja for her deliveries simply because of the rooms and nursing services. The Deluxe Suite has two bedrooms with a connecting door and a guest lounge. One part is for the pregnant woman and the other part is for her caregiver. At all times during labor, the patient is assigned two nurses, one to rub her back and feet, while the other is to monitor vital signs and communicate her progress to the obstetrician. Delivery in the hospital costs between two and five million naira depending on natural or cesarean delivery. Sounds crazy, right? Yet people frequent this hospital and at some point there is almost always a pregnant woman on admission. Not everyone wants to ship overseas. The doctor who owns the hospital has simply identified a major flaw and found a solution that also earns him money.

Another gap in our health care system concerns cancer management. As insensitive as it may sound, there is a great void in cancer treatment that begs to be filled. Cancer treatment consists mainly of three essential elements depending on the stage and type of tumor: Surgery, Chemotherapy and Radiation therapy. For the purposes of this topic, I will focus on radiation therapy and chemotherapy for now.

Currently, there are only 3 radiotherapy centers in the country: Abuja, Enugu and Lagos. For a disease that kills nearly 72,000 people each year, these machines are simply not enough. There were machines in Gombe and Zaria, but the last time I heard that the machines had broken down and needed fixing. A visit to the radiation therapy unit is one that will leave you in tears. The list of people in need is long, but machines are not enough. Keep in mind that they are the ones who can afford radiation therapy. So even when you have the money, accessing radiation therapy is a Herculean task in Nigeria. Therefore, people who can are forced to travel to Cairo, South Africa and India just for radiation therapy to shrink their tumor.

Have we thought about how lucrative it would be to build an oncology center? Assuming a billionaire decides to buy a radiotherapy machine and employ professionals to administer it, don’t we think the burden on public hospitals would significantly reduce? There are many middle class Nigerians who can afford private facilities and only attend public hospitals due to the monopoly they have on machines. However, the idea is not as simplistic as it sounds. Investing in the health sector is capital intensive. Besides the procurement of machines, there are other challenges such as consumables, power supply and personnel. Realizing the profits from this business would require a flexible business plan and Herculean patience. But this can be done. This is where the partnership and the grants come in. Once patients know they can walk around or make an early appointment for their radiation therapy sessions, I can guarantee the business will thrive.

Likewise, chemotherapy salons. Outpatients with cancer must go to wards or operating rooms to receive their IV medications. The process is frustrating and sometimes lowers their morale. Having a living room with comfortable chairs and drying racks where people can sit and receive their meds while signing up, watching TV, or even praying would make their lives more manageable and help bond between them. patients. Several studies have shown that positive communication during cancer treatments leads to better results. These units, if created, would require patients to pay an amount each time they need to be used. The hospital would therefore have created an additional source of income with a little capital. Win-win!

Another gold mine is dialysis. If only the Otedolas knew how much they could earn by building a dialysis clinic where outpatients can come two to three times a week at their convenience and pay double or triple what they would do in a public hospital – they would have built over 50 centers now. At present, there are less than 10 private dialysis centers in Nigeria, most of them concentrated in Lagos, Ibadan and Abuja. It is simply not enough. End-stage kidney disease is a chronic disease where people can live on dialysis for up to twenty years before dying or having a transplant. And the incidence of this condition is on the rise. Therefore, having a clinic where they can easily access their dialysis twice a week, without long queues and without having to quit their jobs and move to a foreign country, is a solution they would adopt without hesitation.

And if all of these ideas sound mind-boggling, then there is an easier way to set up a health maintenance organization (HMO). These are companies mandated only to manage the provision of health services through health establishments (hospitals, opticians, dentists, etc.) accredited by the scheme. Basically, they are an intermediary between the hospital and companies looking to provide health care to their employees and the families of their employees. An HMO has a list of healthcare facilities that provide healthcare services to its clients (businesses). The HMO then markets its services to companies seeking to provide health care to their employees. Once an agreement is made, the company pays the HMO premium. The premium paid will provide the company with coverage for the provision of conditional health services within a specified time frame (usually one year).

As I said, investing in health care takes a lot of capital, but the returns could very well be gold.

This is a 21+ event, and tickets are available online at visitatascadero.com.

The community forum was opened and closed without any member of the public choosing to speak.

A single MD&A was submitted by Community Development Director Phil Dunsmore, who presented the El Camino plan, which is “the result of an 18-month study on the potential to reshape and improve the El Camino corridor. Real to better serve and support the residents and businesses of Atascadero.

The objectives of the project are to:

  • Evaluate shopping areas
  • Quantify market potential
  • Identify possible niches or commercial nodes
  • Provide recommendations for land use and development
  • Describe strategies and funding mechanisms
  • Describe the role and potential of Atascadero as a business destination

The El Camino plan not only focuses on the city center, but the entire El Camino Real corridor, separating the corridor into the North End, Downtown and South End. Community outreach efforts have highlighted public interest in the following areas

  • Economy and vitality
  • Character and location
  • Mobility options
  • Quality of future development
  • The city center as an anchor

The document was completed in March 2020 and contains concepts and suggestions for future planning standards, ideas for land use and zoning along the corridor to improve both economic development and land use. housing opportunities; and potential improvements in the right-of-way to increase the number of cyclists and pedestrians. security and mobility.

From this plan emerged the following economic strategies:

  • Encourage infill development and reuse of existing underused sites
  • Focus on niche creation and business consolidation for momentum at key nodes
  • Target the commercial park zone for business parks and employment centers
  • Investment in the public domain to create a pedestrian friendly and aesthetic environment
  • Prioritize areas of opportunity and develop standards and zoning for a streamlined development process
  • Modify uses in existing zoning districts to ensure compatibility
  • Encourage the grouping of plots to create planned development sites
  • Ensure the application of the code of activities along the corridor that degrade the aesthetic and economic environment

“This plan is a basis for the city’s future action,” said Dunsmore, who reiterated that the El Camino plan is not a policy book, but rather a reference, a source of inspiration and a ” cookbook for the future “.

The Council reflected and gave its opinion on the El Camino plan with an in-depth conversation covering far too many topics to relate here, but interested parties can watch the archived meeting at slo-span.org/static/meetings-ATASCC.php.

After the discussion, Mayor Moreno opened for public comment, and caller Geoff Auslen called to express some concerns about the discussions about pushing some businesses to relocate downtown as well as the need to take into account trends that are occurring out of state that might come. This way. He commended the Council for doing an excellent job this evening and for having addressed most of its concerns during their discussion.

The meeting was adjourned at around 8:06 p.m. and the next council meeting is scheduled for October 26 at 6 p.m.
