Brown and white balloons symbolizing the national flag, fireworks, music, dancing and an exotic vibe set the tone for the celebrations of the FIFA World Cup countdown year Qatar 2022 as the Indian community organized a carnival on Friday.
The Ideal Indian School field event was to support and celebrate the mega sporting event to be held on November 21 of next year.
Indian Ambassador Dr Deepak Mittal opened the carnival by urging the community to uphold the age-old Indian principle of the world as one family, “Vasudevakutumbakam”. Indian Sports Center President Dr Mohan Thomas led the activities and highlighted community support for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.
A video featuring football action scenes and stadiums was posted by Khalid Fakhroo, recreation manager at QatarEnergy. A number of dignitaries from various organizations, including the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Inheritance, were in attendance. Prominent community leaders and apex officials also attended the event.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Mittal said the event was an expression of the Indian community’s support for the successful staging of the 2022 World Cup.
“This is a momentous occasion for the country and its people and being the largest community, the Indian community is here to show our solidarity and support for the major world sporting event. India was the only non-Arab community to host the Arab Cup trophy, which is a great recognition for our country. Today’s event is a manifestation of what the Indian community stands for on behalf of our host country, our second home. We hope that many more Indian visitors will come to Qatar to attend the gala. This carnival will raise many eyes in India on what to expect visitors during the World Cup. “

Dr Thomas said the carnival was the first of many events planned to celebrate the World Cup. “We have a number of programs in place to mark the World Cup and celebrate it throughout next year. We will have more awareness campaigns on Qatar and the World Cup in India with several initiatives during the first half of next year. We will also provide more information about Qatar and its distinct characteristics in the campaign, ”he explained.
The program included a traditional Keralite percussion ensemble, martial arts demonstration, magic show, music and dancing. A good number of visitors invaded the room early in the evening. Prize draws with attractive prizes have taken place. A team of Indian doctors and nurses, who applied Covid-19 protocols, were also ready to provide emergency medical assistance.
