Ex-Corrie star films Full Monty in Sheffield as stars descend on Gleadless Valley

Actors Talitha Wing and Tupele Dorgu were pictured in Sheffield while filming scenes for DIsney Plus’ The Full Monty

Fully Monty fans can once again believe in miracles after the cast of the new spin-off TV series begin recording scenes in the film’s original home of Sheffield.

Ex-Corrie star Tupele Dorgu, 44, was spotted on set as filming for the British cinema classic returned to the city for the first time after filming scenes in Manchester last week. Tupele, who played the lovable Kelly Crabtree on the cobblestones of the ITV soap opera, was not part of the original cast of the critically acclaimed film, released 25 years ago.

But she was one of a small gathering of actors seen filming in Gleadless Valley, Sheffield, this week. The series, which premieres on Disney+ in 2023, will feature a host of new cast members, including the children and grandchildren of returning characters.

The comedy, released in 1997, was the UK’s highest-grossing film until it was overtaken by Titanic. The nation fell in love with a group of unemployed steelworkers in Sheffield who created their own Chippendales-style strip act to earn money.

Last week, Robert Carlyle was seen reprising his role as main character Gaz wearing the same Sheffield United shirt he wore in the film in 1997. The new series, which follows the Pals in their hometown of Sheffield, will also feature original stars such as Mark Addy, 58, Hugo Speer, 53, and Lesley Sharp, 62.
