Tom Derickx paid tribute to his grandfather, Johannes Gradus Derickx, after his death in a moving Instagram post on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old former Australian footballer and model has shared a series of photos of his beloved “Pa”.
“Yesterday, I said goodbye to my grandfather, a gentleman who taught me so much. Give rest to this big heart, dad, â€he captioned the post.

Among the photos Tom included was a cover photo of his grandfather’s funeral service order.
Entitled “A Celebration of His Life”, the libretto said Johannes was born March 15, 1931 and died June 21, 2021.
He bore a striking resemblance to his famous grandson in his youth, with the same dark brown eyes and a thick mane of hair.

Another photo showed Johannes beaming as he stood next to Tom, who was wearing his Sydney Swans AFL uniform.
A final photo showed Tom sitting on his father’s lap like a little boy, alongside another young boy.

After retiring from the AFL in 2016, Tom turned to fashion and regularly works as a model.
