Grand Sierra Resort and Casino announces the addition of Chickie’s & Pete’s Crab House and Sports Bar

Reno’s premier casino continues major transformation with $55 million in resort upgrades and improvements for 2022, over $330 million since 2011

RENO, Nevada – Reno gets its first Chickie’s & Pete’s, voted best sports bar by ESPN in North America. Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) is bringing the flavor of Philadelphia’s hometown and world-famous Crabfries to the biggest small town this fall as part of a $10 million Race and Sportsbook renovation already underway .

Founded in 1977 by Peter “Pete” and Henrietta “Chickie” Ciarrocchi, the Crab and Sports Bar has established itself as a Philadelphia staple and their world-famous Crabfries have become synonymous with game days in the Northeast. The first West Coast outpost opened at GSR’s sister property, SAHARA Las Vegas, late last year.

The menu will include signature seafood creations like Mussels in Red and White Sauce, Lobster Tails, Hot Chickie Shrimp and the Crabfeast specialty featuring a pound of snow crab legs, Dungeness crab, king crab and corn.

In addition to shellfish classics, the menu features game day staples with a unique twist like Philly Cheesesteak Nachos, Chickie’s Wings and a range of juicy burgers, including the Ultimate Tailgate burger with a giant crab cake on a burger pan-fried topped with American sauce. cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion.

It wouldn’t be Chickie’s & Pete’s without their signature creation that made them famous, Crabfries. The crinkle-cut fries are dusted with a secret crab spice blend and served with the restaurant’s unique creamy cottage cheese sauce for dipping.

Adjacent to Chickie & Pete’s is a state-of-the-art 3,000 square foot William Hill racing and sportsbook. Fans can watch multiple sporting events on the expansive 45-foot-wide LED display wall or at one of the spacious racing stations with 24-inch personal TV monitors, individual lighting, and USB connectivity ports .

In addition to the $10 million upgrade for racing and sports betting, capital improvements are underway across the casino with over $55 million planned for this year alone.

Other additions to GSR in 2022 include renovations to more than 600 rooms, a new Starbucks, a revamped 2nd Street Express quick-service restaurant, and modifications and expansions to the resort’s Funquest arcade and bowling alley for include eight VIP bowling alleys, as well as two new food trucks to service the expanded pool.

Since becoming the owner of GSR in 2011, Alex Meruelo has invested more than $330 million in modernizing the complex.
