“The only title the city asked for was the audacity to dream. For those who did, it opened its doors and its treasures, regardless of who they were or where they came from.” – Hart foam

Born in New York, raised in the suburbs, fully developed on Broadway, and still in love with the words of Moss Hart … in this show, Melissa Errico will sing about those New York dreams and those New York doors, the frustrations of York accomplishments.

Reaching her personal songbook box – Sondheim, Comden & Green, Joni Mitchell – and accompanied by her incomparable longtime partner, poetic jazz pianist Tedd Firth, she will celebrate the city of rushed pasts, canceled lunches and loves. rushes, dreams of Broadway and beautiful solitudes.

She continues in the epiphany of a twelve-year-old girl watching On Your Toes – who then finds herself playing in My Fair Lady a decade later in that same theater! And, as a hundred other people spring to mind, Melissa sings songs from the classic songwriters that celebrate our intricate and inimitable city and come back to life.

As she always does, Melissa will pay particular attention to the experience of women and women writers, from a “Wished on The Moon” swing by one of the New Yorker’s most original intellectuals, Dorothy Parker, to the haunting love song from today’s Georgia Stitt and Marcy Heisler. East Village, “The Desire of You.” From the glory of the downtown chicago rush to the last few years of closures and countdown blessings – from “Another Hundred People” to “Lonely Town” – Melissa will sing the real and secret New York, the New York of the private exaltations and public shocks -in.

Songs will include “The Little Things You Do Together” by Sondheim, “Chelsea Morning” by Joni Mitchell … and of course, look for Melissa’s Manhattan essentials, from Rodgers & Hart “Manhattan” himself to “The Way”. You Look Tonight, “which she once danced to with her mentor in Central Park. Also expect a good night kiss and a wish for a peaceful and joyful “Autumn in New York”.
