After officially opening the beautiful flowered doors of the Thailand pavilion in an elegant ceremony on the morning of Friday, October 1, the bustling destination has revealed more details of what visitors can expect from its exciting array of special events.
Welcoming the special guests Mr. Don Pramudwinai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Ajarin Pattanapanchai, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society and the Section Commissioner General of the Pavilion of Thailand and the Ambassador Waravuth Pouapinya, Ambassador of Thailand to the United Arab Emirates, the intimate and exclusive ceremony featured a carefully selected guest list of Dubai’s most important dignitaries, professionals and journalists.
Ajarin Pattanapanchai said, “Expo 2020 is a very important opportunity for Thailand and we are presenting our concept of mobility to the world. We are developing our infrastructure and the growth of our digital infrastructure is the main point of our national policy.
She added, “Thailand is a hub for tourists to the ASEAN region and the Thai pavilion at the Expo will further strengthen the country’s position by displaying its culture and attractions. We expect a large number of visitors and investors in our pavilion.
She concluded: “We are celebrating 45 years of diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates and look forward to strengthening our bilateral relations in various sectors in the near future.”
Historically one of the most popular performances at each staging of the Incredible World’s Fair, Thailand brings its largest and most impressive pavilion in 150 years to the United Arab Emirates from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. Located in the mobility district on a plot of more than 3,600 m², the dynamic space takes visitors through the history of “digital Thailand”, the nation’s economic vision focused on technology. In addition to connecting Thailand to the rest of the world, the pavilion aims to showcase all the wonder of authentic Thai culture. Filled with color, beautiful scenery and charm, the “Miracle of Smiles” pavilion has gone out of its way to create an uplifting and enlightening journey that showcases the true essence of Thailand.
Thailand intends to use Expo 2020 to forge new connections and take important steps towards creating a more sustainable future. The Ministry of the Digital Economy and Society (DE) has appointed the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) as the body responsible for creating its state-of-the-art pavilion. Mainly hosted by Index Creative Village, Thailand’s largest creative company, UAE-based consulting firm OP3 Expo, and Arcade Star entrepreneurs, the pavilion will provide an inspiring environment for discussion and collaboration. Inside this beautiful space, visitors from all over the world are invited to exchange ideas and discuss how innovation and digital technology can boost the economy or even improve society as a whole. Visually striking in every way, the pavilion will be covered with 500 artificial Thai ‘lucky’ flowers, each carefully interwoven to represent the nation’s continued growth and development.
Visitors to the pavilion are invited to cheer themselves up by enjoying the daily performances of the exceptionally talented Smile Band. Playing catchy and upbeat tunes throughout the six months of this groundbreaking global gathering, each evening will also feature a fascinating front-of-house show, filled with stunning displays and wonderful illusions.
Meanwhile, a key part of the pavilion’s captivating offering is its thrilling program of immersive performances and special events. Specifically chosen to showcase Thailand’s unique identity, including its fascinating traditions, world-renowned cuisine, spellbinding art and fabulous innovations, the programming of themed weeks and special days will delight families and friends. of all ages.
First on the agenda, and a must visit for any connoisseur in the kitchen, is Thai Authentic Food & Health Week. With fruit carving, Thai cooking demonstrations, recipe desserts and giveaways and more, this vibrant celebration is filled with fantastic flavors, exotic ingredients and interesting information about world famous, delicious Thai food. and totally unique.
