On the afternoon of October 16, âTurkey Dayâ of â2021 Approachingâ Belt and Road âAsian Countriesâ was held at the Ningbo Library.
The ancient Silk Road started in China and ended in Turkey on land. Turkey is also an important participant in China’s One Belt One Road (BRI) initiative. Ningbo, founded 1,200 years ago, has gradually become an important port city for foreign trade and cultural exchanges since the Tang Dynasty. It is one of the important interconnection channels between China and the world, and one of the important starting points of the “Maritime Silk Road”.
Economic, commercial and cultural exchanges between Ningbo and Turkey have a long history. In July 2002, Turkey Cimtas (Ningbo) Steel Structure Manufacturing Co., Ltd. was established in Ningbo; In August 2008, the Ningbo Folk Art Troupe, representing China, participated in the opening ceremony tour of the Izmir International Cultural Festival in Turkey. Folk arts such as dragons, Xiangshan fishing drums, tea-picking dances and fishing songs amazed the people of Turkey; In July 2020, the first metro line of the CRRC Ningbo industrial base became the main public transport of the new line at Istanbul Airport.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Turkey, and to strengthen the cultural contribution to the joint construction of the “Belt and Road”, with the support of the Foreign Office of the People’s Government Ningbo Municipal, Ningbo The library has launched four characteristic activities, including tour sharing “Travel to a city”, music sharing “Enjoy a song”, art sharing “Appreciate a painting” and sharing of food “Taste a delicacy”. Readers who attended the event said that they could fully experience the exotic customs and experience the charm of Turkish culture and art without going abroad.
At the event, the Turkish Consul General in Shanghai, HÃ¼seyin Emre Engin, presented books to the Ningbo Library, which further enriched the library collections of the sister cities. They will be exhibited in the “Turkish Window”.
In order to deepen readers’ understanding of Turkey, Ningbo Library also set up a “Turkish Window” exhibition space in the study of the sister city of the special literature area on the third floor, which incorporates Turkish themed book fairs, photo exhibitions on humanities and customs. , and video exhibits. it will last three months
