Philip Schofield congratulates the Queen ahead of the Jubilee event

This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield has revealed a surprising thing he noticed about Queen Elizabeth ahead of her Platinum Jubilee celebration this weekend.

During an interview with ITV, the star revealed he had several encounters with the Queen throughout his career and revealed she had “beautiful skin”.

He said: “I have been lucky enough to meet the Queen on several occasions and have always been struck by how easily she puts everyone at ease.

“She’s very quick-witted and incredibly knowledgeable…and she has great skin!”

Phil, 60, will host the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations on Sunday May 15 alongside Julie Etchingham.

Speaking about his upcoming role as host, Phil said: “The Monarchy is for me the epitome of British culture.

“Every royal event I’ve had the chance to attend has been a tremendous privilege, and Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is no exception.

“I can’t wait to bring this celebration of the Queen’s 70 years of service live to the nation.”

Phillip also revealed some of the exciting performers who will entertain nations on the big day and what audiences can expect from the celebrations.

“There’s something for everyone – musical performances by Keala Settle, Gregory Porter, Katherine Jenkins, the Commonwealth taking part in a huge show and of course we’ll be taken on a journey through history told by some names A-list brilliants such as Dame Helen Mirren and Tom Cruise.

“Myself and Julie will guide the nation through the sequence of events, and we will also have the chance to interview some of the biggest names attached to the show. You don’t want to miss it”.

The star admitted he was particularly looking forward to the appearance of Dame Helen Mirren and thought Windsor Castle would prove to be the perfect backdrop for the occasion.
