Venus Cabaret Theater to Open with THE DARK NIGHT Series
Venus Cabaret Theater, the intimate performance space of the Mercury Theater Chicago, under the direction of Cabaret Manager Honey West, Artistic Director Christopher Chase Carter and General Manager Shane Murray-Corcoran, announces its reopening this fall with The Dark Night Series .
In the theater, the night’s rest is called a “dark night” because the lights are off. At the Mercury Theater Chicago, the “phantom light” burns so hard that even when we take a break, the doors of the Venus Cabaret Theater are open for The Dark Night series. The program will feature open mic nights, karaoke, comedy, bands, variety, celebrities, cabaret, and more.
The Venus Cabaret Theater will open with The Dark Night Series on October 2. Signature Sunday through Tuesday programming includes cabaret shows by Luminaries on Sunday, a comedy hosted by actor, comedian and Scott Duff of OUT Chicago Radio, and Open Mic Nights with Chuck Larkin plus artists produced Cabaret. The month ends on Halloween with a special Murder Mystery event. The intimate venue offers specialty cocktails from Beverage Director Sarah Wurz.
Cabaret Manager Honey West comments, “We are delighted to celebrate the grand reopening of the Venus Cabaret Theater. The Venus Cabaret Theater is a beautiful and versatile space that is home to musicians, actors, variety artists and comedians.
Christopher Chase Carter adds, “There is no other cabaret venue in Chicago as special as our beautiful gem of Southport Avenue. Honey and I bring together a lineup of Chicago’s favorite artists, as well as nationally recognized guest artists, nights you can’t miss. We look forward to welcoming audiences once again to experience the music, joy, comedy and variety with us and our family of artists. “
